The 5th Annual Mauldin BBQ Cook-Off will take place Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26 at the Mauldin Cultural Center. Featuring over 20 BBQ teams from across the state and region, plus live music and a dedicated “Kids Zone”, this community festival is perfect for the entire family. Admission to the festival is free both days.
The festival kicks off Friday at 6pm with participating BBQ Teams serving up some of their best non-BBQ dishes in the festival’s popular “Anything Butt” competition. Music will be provided by The Lone Bellow, a Brooklyn-based band gaining national and international attention for their three part harmonies mixed with rock, blues and country. Friday’s events end at 9pm or until all food is sold out.
Saturday the festival opens at 11am for public tastings of some of the best BBQ in the state. Grab a $10 Tasting Pass and enjoy samples from each BBQ Team, or pick up a plate for everyone in your group and enjoy live music in the amphitheater from Jack Roper & the Weatherman Band. Kids will enjoy free face-painting, inflatable rides and various games at 11am. The festival wraps up Saturday by 3pm with the presentation of awards to winning BBQ Teams.
More information on the annual event can be found at www.mauldinbbq.com.
BBQ Team registration is now open and cash prizes are awarded to winners. The event is sanctioned and judged by the SC BBQ Association. Registration forms are available online.
Last year’s festival was wildly successful, bringing in over 2,500. This year’s event looks to bring together even more BBQ Teams and even larger crowds.
