All of our classes are taught by community artists and are offered at competitive prices. We offer private lessons, classes and workshops. Our list of current classes and upcoming showcases are listed below.

FALL CLASSES

portfolio_MMArtCreative Writing: Novel Writing Class

October 7 – December 2
Mondays, 6:30-8 p.m.
Ages: 18+

***Potential to open a daytime class and a class for teens, as well as a general creative writing class. Please email Theresa Kiser (information below) to be added to the waiting list.

This class is designed to provide the guidance you need to pen that novel you’ve always wanted to write or get un-stuck with your work in progress. We will cover plotting, characterization, POV, conflict, writing tools, and publishing options. Give yourself the time and support you need to achieve a bucket-list goal and write your novel. This class meets on Mondays for eight weeks, from October to early December, to correspond with the national plotting and novel writing months (NaNoPloMo and NaNoWriMo).

Please note that this class will not meet on November 11, 2019.

They offer classes for children (grades 1-5), teens and adults that can be customized to fit your schedule. Each class will focus on a different medium and technique based on various styles of art. The class sizes are small, with interactive instruction that provides individual attention to each student. Whether you are a novice or an advanced artist, The Art Haven will create an environment in which you can grow in your creativity and artistic pursuits. Guitar Lessons

Taught by Brandon Dyke, the Mauldin Cultural Center hosts a wide-range of classes, including guitar ensemble, rock improvising, and music theory. You can also bring a friend or family member and take paired guitar lessons, which continue to offer more individualized attention than a larger class would, but can add extra fun and motivation as you learn along with someone else. Brandon offers both group and private lessons.

Wood Carving

The Piedmont Wood Carvers Club hosts a carve-in every Wednesday evening, 6 – 8 p.m. This unstructured carving session does not require a membership. They also host a monthly carve-in on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and also does not require a membership.

Throughout the year, they host workshops and special classes ranging from intaglio relief to pyrography. Stay tuned to their schedule for upcoming workshops.
