We started our theatre program in 2017 to provide performing arts to our underserved community. You can learn more about our performing arts and how you can give back to a great program!

Starting Our Theatre

Mauldin has been an underserved community for in-school and afterschool youth theatre options. Wanting to fill the youth theatre void in our community, we established the Mauldin Youth Theatre (MYT) in October 2017.

Our program is open to youth in Mauldin and the surrounding areas. Because we work to cover most of our costs through grants, private donors, and the Mauldin City Council, MYT is affordable for youth of varying backgrounds.

Our MYT director, Tim St. Clair, II, casts both experienced and beginner youth actors, believing everyone has to start somewhere. Since its beginning, MYT has offered four productions, including Disney’s The Lion King, Jr., James and the Giant Peach, JR., Shrek: The Musical, JR., and Disney’s Aladdin, JR., and Disney’s Frozen, JR. performing to sold out or nearly-sold out shows each time. MYT’s upcoming productions include Disney’s Moana, JR. and Roald Dahl’s Matilda, JR.

This year, we’ll be hosting two musical revues, and our Mauldin Theatre Company (staring adult and youth actors) will host its inaugural production, Disney’s Freaky Friday, this spring.

Sustaining Our Theatre

Our program has been partially funded by Prisma Health, Metropolitan Arts Council, and the City of Mauldin. We have been fortunate enough to partner with Productions Unlimited, Carolina Fashions, family volunteers, local restaurants, and local theatres to secure our needs at free or reduced costs. Despite all of the support, the costs still add up. 

You Can Help

With a tax-deductible donation like yours, we can continue to support and grow our theatre. If you’d like to sponsor the theatre, we’d love for you to be a guest our fundraiser dinner. The event will begin with drinks and networking at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and entertainment at 6:30 p.m.  this year’s event will take place on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

To attend the dinner, you can sponsor at $125 per seat, which will include the dinner and entertainment for one OR you can sponsor a table for $1,000, which will cover eight guests and will include two tickets to one of our 2020-2021 season productions of your choice.

You can purchase your tickets online through our donation portal (please RSVP to [email protected]), in person at the Mauldin Cultural Center, or by completing the form provided below with the event information and returning it to our office.
