All of our classes are taught by community artists and are offered at competitive prices. We offer private lessons, classes and workshops. Our list of current classes and upcoming showcases are listed below.

SPRING CLASSES

Soap Carving Class

First Saturdays of each month

The Piedmont Wood Carvers Club is offering Soap Carving Classes for ages 5 years and up (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The class will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Mauldin Cultural Center. The cost is $5 for supplies.

Voice Lessons

Karen Schnurr teaches one-on-one voice lessons to students of all levels, ages, and styles. Lessons will help the student grow vocally and in confidence by understanding their instrument and learning a solid technique that works for all styles.
She creates an encouraging and positive environment for her singers to help them gain the confidence and knowledge they need to pursue their musical goals!
Students will be asked to bring in the rep of their choice while Karen can also help her singers discover songs that will help solidify their technique.
In addition to ongoing voice lessons, Karen can also help with audition prep, role development, college entrance prep, and more.

Piano Lessons

Ray Schnurr has been teaching piano, theory and composition/songwriting for 20+ years and composing professionally for 25+! One of the most valuable traits Ray brings to his lessons is his many years of experience as a professional composer/arranger/orchestrator in Orlando and Los Angeles. He has worked for a variety of different film studios and production companies including Disney, Sony and Warner Bros, and has worked on many studio film projects including Matrix Trilogy, Home for the Holidays, Amazing Race and more. He has also written many orchestral arrangements, which have been performed by professional orchestras across the United States, including LA Phil, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Florida Symphony Orchestra to name a few. Ray has also composed many solo piano works, geared towards beginning and intermediate pianists.

He encourages all his piano, songwriting and composition students to enjoy learning music by first working with the student to play or compose the type of music they love, then encourages them to explore new musical adventures, which strengthens their unique musical gifts.

Mauldin City Singers Community Choir

Pam Mayfield, retired choral music teacher from Mauldin High School, directs the Mauldin City Singers, a community choir open to everyone age 16 and up. All genres of music are explored through this group, including classics, sacred, gospel, folk, pop, showtunes, and more. Mauldin City Singers will perform two concerts each year, one at Christmas and one in the spring. Pam invites anyone interested to sign up!

They offer classes for children (grades 1-5), teens and adults that can be customized to fit your schedule. Each class will focus on a different medium and technique based on various styles of art. The class sizes are small, with interactive instruction that provides individual attention to each student. Whether you are a novice or an advanced artist, The Art Haven will create an environment in which you can grow in your creativity and artistic pursuits. Guitar Lessons

Taught by Brandon Dyke, the Mauldin Cultural Center hosts a wide range of classes, including guitar ensemble, rock improvising, and music theory. You can also bring a friend or family member and take paired guitar lessons, which continue to offer more individualized attention than a larger class would, but can add extra fun and motivation as you learn along with someone else. Brandon offers both group and private lessons.

Wood Carving

Monthly Members Business Meeting | 3rd Saturday

The Piedmont Wood Carvers Club hosts a carve-in every Wednesday evening, 2 – 8 p.m. This unstructured carving session does not require a membership. They also host a monthly Members Business Meeting on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Throughout the year, they host workshops and special classes ranging from intaglio relief to pyrography. Stay tuned to their schedule for upcoming workshops.
