All theatre summer camps are organized by the Mauldin Cultural Center.

SUMMER SESSIONS & CAMPS
Broadway Beginner Camp (Ages 6-11)

New to theatre? Let us introduce you! In this one-week camp, your child will explore theatre through games, improv, crafts and more! Your child will end this week with more confidence and a new way to express themselves! This camp will be fun for all levels of theatre experience!

Leading Player 2-Week Intensive Camp (Ages 6-11 & Ages 12-17)

JOIN US! In this 2-week Musical Theatre intensive, your child will dive deep into the world of musical theatre, learning from several pros about anything from how to audition and how their voice works to performance techniques and rehearsal processes. This Intensive will end in the culmination of a cabaret show to highlight the work completed by the students during the camp!

Shakespeare It Up! Camp (Ages 10-17)

To be…or NOT to be! THAT is the question! In this week-long camp, your child will explore all things Shakespeare- from iambic pentameter and Shakespearean characters to the performance of his work! This camp is for all levels of experience that have an interest in learning what it takes to be a Shakespearean actor!

Young Playwrights Camp
July 31, 2023 – August 4, 2023

Writer’s unite! Does your child love telling stories, creating characters and writing? In this week-long camp, your child will have the opportunity to adapt a fairy tale for the stage, picking up “tools” along the way for their writer’s toolbox. This camp will have an emphasis on the process of play creation and will culminate in a staged reading of the work accomplished during the week!

They offer classes for children (grades 1-5), teens and adults that can be customized to fit your schedule. Each class will focus on a different medium and technique based on various styles of art. The class sizes are small, with interactive instruction that provides individual attention to each student. Whether you are a novice or an advanced artist, The Art Haven will create an environment in which you can grow in your creativity and artistic pursuits. Taught by Brandon Dyke, the Mauldin Cultural Center hosts a wide range of classes, including guitar ensemble, rock improvising, and music theory. You can also bring a friend or family member and take paired guitar lessons, which continue to offer more individualized attention than a larger class would, but can add extra fun and motivation as you learn along with someone else. Brandon offers both group and private lessons.

Wood Carving
Weekly carve-in | Wednesdays, year-round | 2:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Monthly Members Business Meeting | 3rd Saturday
Details
The Piedmont Wood Carvers Club hosts a carve-in every Wednesday evening, 2 – 8 p.m. This unstructured carving session does not require a membership. They also host a monthly Members Business Meeting on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Throughout the year, they host workshops and special classes ranging from intaglio relief to pyrography. Stay tuned to their schedule for upcoming workshops.
